I’m not dead (undead?) update

Main

I just want everyone (anyone?) to know that I still LIKE blogging.  I’m just fed up with WordPress.  It’s ultra-powerful, ultra-customizable, which at first I thought I wanted, but now I realize that was overambitious and I don’t care enough to spend the time customizing and making general awesomeness.  So I’m sloooowly trying to move my posts over to a Blogger account.  Is that possible?  I’m not sure.  And I hate to keep bouncing blogs around but I strayed from the flock and I’ve learned my lesson.  Keep it simple, stupid.

I’ve got images I could post and a million words to express, but I’m not in the mood.

Goodbye!

Matt and Me

I found this picture on my Mom’s Facebook page.  Yes, my mother’s Facebook page.  You can’t stop the internet.

Anyway.

This picture made me want to cry with pathetic nostalgia and embarassment.

The reality of entertainment

Main

Michael sent me these videos.  I had to share.  If these two songs do not more lucidly explain how little talent is required to be famous and/or successful in entertainment today well then, you just won’t EVER get it.

Upon further consideration, perhaps real applause should go to the people who make awful “artists” sound good.

DEK Adventures in California!

Main

Herro!

I’ve been killer busy even on vacation doing all sorts of things.  Mostly errands and entertaining.  I’ve taken a ton of pictures in the past few weeks and I just got around to sorting through a batch of them and resizing them for the old blog.  These pics are from the adventures I had with Corey, Lando, Jonga, and Amy this last weekend in LA.  Griffith, Los Angeles National Forest, Venice Beach… some other stuff.  Just pictures that I liked enough to post here.  The rest of the mess will be on Facebook.  I’ve got a ton of photos from the mountains in Cali up north that I haven’t even sorted through yet.  I wanted to clean them up nice and seeing how it’s after one in the morning now, I’m glad I didn’t start those yet.  Coming soon hopefully!

Santa Monica Pier

Main
Somehow or another I found myself on the Santa Monica Pier tonight.  If you look closely you can see CJ running away from the police and Iron Man flying overhead.  Look very closely.

I really like the lighting here, I blame the cold for her constant shaking.

Zoo day

Animation

Today was another Saturday morning at the zoo.  Unfortunately, there was some form of monstrous bunny there that a million people came to pet.  Something about Easter.  Either way, both pedestrian and automobile traffic was a mess.  I was not happy about it.

So here are my typical drawings.  Still pretty amateur.  I particularly dislike the camel.

Griffith in the springtime

Main

Springtime in LA is actually beautiful, despite it’s smoggy reputation.  So I thought I’d upload some of the pictures I took at Griffith Last weekend.  They’re also on Facebook but the picture quality sucks for anything other than a college party.  Offering a warning on the size of the links you may or may not click.

Latest studies

Animation

I’m really beginning to dislike this whole WordPress blogging system.  I thought it would be cool because of all the customization and whatnot, but I’ll never have time for that, and mostly I just want to add pictures.  And it’s constantly updating and I have to do all this wor-around crap.  Kind of a waste of time.  Oh well, power through it.

Here is a gallery of drawings that I’ve been doing as studies since the last time I posted.  There is a bunch of stuff I pulled off a Tigger model sheet and some Preston Blair hands, as well as some anatomy studies by Glenn Kean for Tarzan that Michael insisted were good.  Or at least one of them was good.  So there they are.  Also, I went to the zoo today.  Lions, chimps, a lemur who wouldn’t stop hiding and some bears.  The guy in the bag was one of the characters from Coonskin.  I tried to put him down on paper a few weeks ago at the ASIFA Salon when we watched a clip of it.  I don’t know if it’s right, all I remembered was big feet and a paper bag…

Anyway.

Mickey Inbetweens

Animation

mickey_run_comp

Woohoo!  I got Sunday off!  So I took the time to finish my Mickey inbetweens and scan them for your criticism.  I noticed that I changed the shape of the cape a lot, in a bad way.  Of course there are typical volume issues and my inability to visualize the shapes and details turned in different directions.  Anyway, I believe the link above will allow you to view it in quicktime.

That’s all for now!

P.S. - I just watched it.  Just want to clarify that I am not impressed.  The end.
